Meet Rehna Shajahan, the woman from Kerala who took 81 online classes in one day to break the world record

A woman from Kerala has broken a world record for completing 81 online courses in a single day.

Rehna Shajahan, 25, from Kottayam in Kerala, has entered the International Book of Records for achieving the maximum number of online certificates in one day.

The previous record for the maximum number of online certificates received in one day was 75.

Rehna said times now, “My sister was studying in University of Delhi when I started dreaming of getting admission into a Central University. lost my admission by only 0.5 points.”

She continued, “I decided to join two distance learning masters – a masters in social work and a PG degree in guidance and counseling – simultaneously. A year later, I took Jamia’s MBA course. results came out, I was the only person in our state to get an MBA in entrepreneurship.”

She said: “One day during the COVID-19 lockdown, I ended up taking 55 classes in 24 hours. When I told Dr Sharnas Muthu, director of the NGO Women’s Manifesto with whom I worked before, about that, she encouraged me to try for the world record.”

For the record, Rehna, who grew up in Bahrain, tried courses offered by Facebook, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, CISCO, etc.

The courses were mainly based on digital marketing and finance.

“I wanted to enrich my CV. I finished my MBA during the COVID-19 period. When companies came for internships, they asked how we used the period of confinement other than just completing the course. I wanted to stand out from the crowd. normal crowd,” Rehna said.

Recalling the day she attempted the record, Rehna said: “I started at 8 a.m. By 11 p.m. I had received 66 certificates. I had to pass nine more in an hour to set the world record. For a moment I thought I should give up, but then I decided to stop counting.”

Since the certificates only mention the date and there is no timestamp, Rehna had to break the record before the clock struck 12. “I had to break the record before the calendar date changed,” Rehna explained.

Most courses require at least 70% marks to earn a certificate, she said.

When asked how she managed to get so many certificates in such a short time, the 25-year-old said: “There are multiple-choice questions. It doesn’t take long when you have the basic knowledge of the courses. I chose to only take the courses which were free and provided certificates.”

The record was attempted on November 24, 2020.

“I was working in Dubai as HR and recently resigned to come to India for my dad’s transplant surgery next month,” Rehna said.

She added, “My family has been my biggest support. My mom told me she would bring food to my room. My sister is my inspiration.”

Rehna currently works as a career coach and helps students develop their personalities and teaches them to take online courses.
