AICTE to develop online courses for SWAYAM in emerging technologies and invites proposals

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has solicited proposals from educational content developers and faculty members of technical tertiary institutions to develop MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) for the platform SWAYAM. Apart from educational content creators and faculty members, freelancers and people who are not associated with any college or university can also submit their proposal.

AICTE seeks to develop MOOCs on emerging technologies. These include Artificial Intelligence, Nanotechnology, Blockchain, Quantum Computing, Mixed Reality, Data Analytics, Indian Knowledge Systems and Sustainable Innovation Development , among others. These are also areas of the non-formal education system.

Interested applicants can send the full proposal to the email address mentioned in the official notice issued by AICTE to [email protected] The deadline for submitting a proposal is May 15.

Course creators wishing to apply must submit their proposal along with a 3-minute introductory video of the program. The creator must describe the content per unit of the MOOC proposed in 3000 words maximum.

“Aspiring course creators can send their proposals accompanied by a three-minute introductory video and a program describing the content of the unit in a maximum of 3000 words of the proposed MOOC. AICTE reserves the right to ‘accept or reject the proposal to create new online courses for SWAYAM,’ the official notice reads.

According to AICTE, MOOCs should be developed as self-paced or credited courses for the SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active–Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) platform. Before sending the proposal, creators should ensure that their MOOC meets the technical standards and adheres to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The final decision on the approval or rejection of the proposal would be made by the Academic Advisory Council (AAC) constituted by AICTE.

SWAYAM is one of the largest MOOC platforms in the world developed by AICTE for hosting open online courses. The platform was designed with the aim of achieving three cardinal principles of education policy, namely access, equity and quality. It is a one-stop web and mobile-based interactive e-content offering all courses from high school to college level.
